Tradition of the Krumlov Pipers starts already in 1988 when Mrs.Věra Hanzalíková founded an ensanble attached to "Dům dětí a mládeže" (youth center) in Český Krumlov. During the time the ensemble grew and accepted new members into a few of its sections. ![]() Small children learn to play flute and gradually become “real pipers” playing not only all kinds fipple flutes but they also dance and sing during their performances. They can be seen in renaissance costumes not only during Five-petalled Rose Celebrations in Český Krumlov, they also welcome kings and ambassadors of countries of all Europe. Its worth mention that they performed for Danish Queen Margareth, Swedish King Gustav and his wife Sylvia, Canadian Governor Roméo Le Blanca, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and many more important visitors and celebrities. There are many occasions to bring renaissance back to life and introduce its charm in Český Krumlov a s a historic town being recorded on the list of UNESCO World Heritage since 1992. In 1994 Krumlov Pipers received Award of the Town of Český Krumlov for many years´ activity and contribution in culture field. In process of time and becoming better known to townspeople, the ensemble flourishes and extends the field of activity – it performs not only in Český Krumlov but throughout South Bohemia and is being invited to historic festivities and other events throughout The Czech Republic. They regularly go to “Karlštejnské vinobraní” (Karlštejn´s vendage), being invited by Senate they perform in Valštejnské gardens in Prague and also during the Thalia award ceremony. They travel also abroad, they have visited France, Germany, Belgium, Slovenia, Austria, England and Italy. Later on Krumlov Pipers cooperate with a historic dance ensemble Fioretto and they celebrate a great success with their compound programme. Both ensembles also visit Italian Sulmona, the birthplace of famous Roman poet Publius Ovidius Naso, and get new friends and attention there. They come again to these festivities later on. At the end of June 2005 the ensemble baptise their first record called “Hudba evropských panovnických dvorů” (Music of European Royal Courts). In 2007 the ensemble accepts new members again and is divided into two sections – experienced Pipers (today adult girls already) and the new section of school and preschool children. After a few years without new members a new generation of Krumlov Pipers comes up. From the beginning of the ensemble the lead of the ensemble was Mrs. Věra Hanzalíková. Since 2008 the lead was taken by Renata Pyšíková and Lenka Indrová, they together have the Prep, Cheepers and Pages, children sections, which also have their own performances. Petra Marie Slavková as one of the longest active members leads The Pipers – the oldest section of the ensemble. |
